푸르른 청정 자연 뉴질랜드의 산양(Goat) 분유가 한국에서도 요즘 유행이라고 하죠. 국내 한 분유업체는 뉴질랜드 목장 방문 행사까지 하면서 뉴질랜드 분유를 수입해 팔기도 한다고요. 얼마전에,,, 뉴질랜드 분유를 찾아서 비행기 타고 뉴질랜드 오클랜드공항까지 왔다가 분유를 받아서 바로 한국으로 다시 가신다는 분 전화를 받은 적이 있었어요. 그동안 뉴질랜드 산양분유, 분유,,, 이야기를 많이 들었는데 어느 날인가 ( 저는 슈퍼마켓 가는 일이 1년에 한두번인데 ) 타우랑가 한 슈퍼마켓에 분유가 눈에 띄네요. 뉴질랜드 우유, 분유는 안전하고 믿을 수 있다고 하고, 특히 100년 전통의 믿을 수 있는 분유 회사 Karicare에서 만든 산양(goat)분유 등이 전세계적으로 인기가 좋답니다. 천연 자연 환경에서 푸른 풀을 뜯어먹고 자라는 100% 방목 산양유는 단백질과 지방 조성이 가장 모유에 가까워 소화 흡수가 잘 되고, 앨러지 걱정이 낮다고 하더군요. Karicare 골드(Gold) 분유는 유기농 우유를 원료로 단백질, 오메가3 지방산, 각종 미네랄, 비타민 뿐만 아니라 아기의 두뇌발달과 시력 증진, 신경발달에 중요한 성분인 DHL 을 함유하고 있는 고급 분유랍니다. 중국인들의 2008년 중국산 분유 파동 이후 거의 광적으로 찾아 싹쓸이 한답니다. 뉴질랜드에서 불법적으로 온라인 분유 판매 사이트를 운영하던 중국인들이 단속된 적도 있답니다. 뉴질랜드 국내 슈퍼마켓에서는 내국인이라고 해도 1인당 1회 구매 갯수 제한(3-4통씩)도 있다고 하구요. 뉴질랜드 정부도 중국인들의 싹쓸이 분유 사재기에 제동을 걸고 있습니다. 분유를 해외로 일반 우송 판매하는 것을 금지한다고 합니다. 해외 수출은 오직 유제품 수출에 관해 등록 허가된 업체들만 가능하다고 합니다. 요즘엔 직접 단체 여행객들로 입국해서 사 갖고 출국 한다고 하더군요. 특히 공항 주변의 뉴질랜드 슈퍼마켓에는 분유가 사라지고 없어서... 뉴질랜드인들이 멀리 다른 동네까지 가서야 찾을 수 있다고 하는 뉴스도 들립니다. 저희 애들은 다 커서 이제 분유를 먹지 않아도 되는데요. 이래저래 중국인들 싹쓸이 때문에 한국 가족들에게 뉴질랜드 분유 선물 보내기도 쉽지 않네요.
Chinese-New Zealanders have been selling the formula online to Chinese parents who do not want to use formula made in their own country after the 2008 San Lu scandal, in which 6 children died and many hundreds fell seriously ill after consumption of melamine-contaminated formula.
While customers who shop at Foodtown, Woolworths and Countdown can only buy 4 tins of formula at one given time, those at Pak 'n Save supermarkets face a limit of 3.
Under New Zealand law (Animal Products Act 1999) only registered exporters can export dairy material, including products such as infant formula.

Ministry targets unlawful export of formula

The Ministry for Primary Industries is clamping down on the unlawful export of infant formula.
The ministry says a joint investigation with Customs has revealed substantial growth in illegal exports of formula primarily to China in the past year, with a total value of $150 million.
Manager of food and beverage Glen Neal says companies and individuals are being warned that to export animal product they must be a registered exporter.
He says it is also unlawful to export infant formula made for the New Zealand market to China, as that country has different product labelling rules.
Mr Neal says there are fines of up to $300,000 for acting as an unregistered exporter and the clampdown is an effort to protect New Zealand's reputation as an exporter of safe food.
As well, the unlawful exporting has led to a shortage of infant formula for New Zealand customers.
A milk products exporter says the Government's clampdown on unlawful exports of infant formula will preserve the reputation of the nation's dairy industry.
Westland Milk Products chief executive Rod Quin says in China infant formula can sell for two or three times its New Zealand wholesale price.
