Jazz and train enthusiasts will be treated to the first ever City of Tauranga Jazz Steamtrain steaming its way from Paekakariki all the way to Tauranga in authentically restored carriages.

For the duration of the Festival, the City of Tauranga Jazz Steamtrain will depart from Mt Maunganui on a journey around the Bay offering some unique, normally hidden vistas of our country side. Of course there will be a Jazz Band on the main menu, augmented by fine wine, refreshments and food.

A fantastic and nostalgic trip into yesteryear with the comfort and entertainment of today.
The train departs from the corner of Maunganui Rd and Hull Rd on a journey of approximately 2 hours duration.
Passengers will be able to take a journey on a classic steam train and listen to the rhythms of a live jazz band while watching the lush Bay of Plenty countryside drift past the carriage window. Services on board include fine Villa Maria wines, refreshments and the specially created Jazzy Munch Box (created by the talented team of chefs from The Sebel). It’ll be a truly unique and memorable experience for people of all ages.
Daily 2 hour excursions on Friday, Saturday and Sunday
