That's the message from Nathan Villars, deputy chair of the board of the Association of Cambridge Schools in New Zealand, who will present an information evening in Tauranga this month. 

An international school curriculum now available to ACG Tauranga students can open doors in an increasingly global world.

“Cambridge is an international curriculum which is globally recognised,” explains Nathan. “With an increasing number of New Zealand students looking to go overseas to university, this is a great option for them.

“For many, these are Australian universities. Parents want more options for their children's future, and Cambridge can open those doors.”

ACG Tauranga is the only school in Tauranga totally based on the Cambridge Curriculum, starting from primary school.

Parents who would like to find out more are invited to attend the event at ACG Tauranga this Friday at 5.30pm.

Nathan, who is principal of ACG Sunderland, says the Cambridge curriculum is also popular with families who have lived or plan to live overseas. Sending their child to a school with an international curriculum means moving schools internationally is “reasonably straightforward”.

Parents in New Zealand have three curriculum options for their children – NCEA, the Cambridge International Curriculum, and the International Baccalaureate.

“The Cambridge Curriculum is a highly structured, progressive framework that provides specific, comprehensive content and learning objectives in literacy, numeracy and science,” explains Nathan.

He says the Cambridge curriculum is university driven, and parents can be confident that it is rigorous.

“The University of Cambridge is the world's leading provider of international qualifications and assessments,” he adds.

“The Cambridge International Examinations system was established over 100 years ago and as it has evolved, it has gained international respect around the world.

“It's great that ACG Tauranga offers this option to students and families in the Bay of Plenty.”

“Another advantage of the Cambridge curriculum is that it is easy for parents to understand their children's progress.

“Secondary students are marked on an A to E scale, and percentages are also used in New Zealand. Parents understand it.”

ACG Schools and Colleges consistently achieve outstanding results in the University of Cambridge International Examinations. Last year was typical, with the overall pass rate of 100 percent across all ACG Schools, and nearly half of the senior students scoring an A Grade or better.

ACG Tauranga's primary and middle school curricula are designed to prepare students for the Cambridge International Examinations.

Situated on the corner of Keenan Road and Pyes Pa Road on SH36, ACG Tauranga is the city's only comprehensive

 Year 1-13 independent school and offers co-ed and secular education.

Opening in February with Years 1-9, the school will increase incrementally to reach Year 13 in 2019. It has enrolments from as far away as Rotorua and Waihi.
