The judges said:
“Otumoetai Intermediate has a planned approach to change the lives of every student in the two years they attend. Their highly effective systems for teacher learning drive up achievement. Their students develop the competencies required to be truly in charge of their own learning.

To win the Prime Minister’s Supreme Award was overwhelming and an achievement our students and staff can be really proud of. Along with the awards the school also received some money and further professional development for the staff. We received a total of $57,000 in prize money and although this did not feature in our thoughts when we entered the awards, it will be used wisely to develop our facilities here at school. We will be talking with our staff, students and parents as to how we may use these funds. one of the long term projects we have in our vision is to build a cover over the large astro-turf so this may be used as seeding funding for this.
