2011년에 뉴질랜드 타우랑가의 오투모에타이 인터미디어트 학교에서 유학했던 학생들이 한자리에 모였습니다.

작년에는 한국 유학생이 15명쯤이었는데 올해는 좀 적네요.

International Student Achievement

Su has made some outstanding achievements this year.   She has particularly excelled in reading and writing.  Su’s teacher has been impressed with her positive attitude to learning and ability to confidently carry out all tasks set.  Su has taken on many new challenges during the year and has shown a particular interest in the arts.  Su auditioned and got accepted into J Rock, the schools dance drama group.  She got to perform on the ‘big stage’ in Tauranga’s Baycourt Theatre.  Fantastic effort Su!

Angela has had a great year at Otumoetai Intermediate School.  She has worked very hard and has produced some excellent results in all areas of English.  In Term Two, Angela participated in the school Science Fair competition.  She was able to plan an investigation and carry out testing on an experiment of her choice.  Angela completed the Science Fair to a high standard and then presented it to her class.  This year Angela has had a challenge of a different kind.  She has provided a service to her class in the form of teaching the Korean language and songs to her classmates.  It has been a great experience for her and has helped with her confidence and oral language.  Congratulations on your efforts Angela!

Beom arrived at Otumoetai Intermediate School in Term 2 this year.  He had only been in New Zealand for a short time when he had to move from Christchurch.  It was particularly difficult for Beom because he had only just managed to find his feet and then had to adjust to new systems and friendships at a new school.  Initially Beom found it challenging to fit in and was having difficulty using English to communicate.  During the course of the year Beom began to overcome his shyness and made a great effort to make friendships.  Today he is able to join in with small-group discussion and is beginning to use English more confidentally.   Beom has also made great gains in his writing this term.  He produced a well-structured report on the Kiwi.  Well done Beom!

Sunny has attended Otumoetai Intermediate School for two years and in that time she has made some outstanding achievements.  She started the school feeling shy and awkward and has blossomed into a confident young lady.  Today she is able to converse easily with her peers and adults and participate and offer ideas in group situations in class.  This year Sunny has shown great commitment in improving her writing skills.  Her new found confidence has allowed her to step out of her comfort zone and produce some great writing.  Great work Sunny!

Dairy Farm Visit

The students got to experience life on a dairy farm at Pukehina.  They got to hand milk a cow, ride a tractor, feed cows and pigs and collect walnuts.

Mount Mauganui Beach Trip

In summer, the students visited Mount Maunganui Beach and collected shells as part of their Rocky Shore study.  They explored the rock pools, had fish and chips on the beach and got to taste real New Zealand ice-cream.

Rainbow Springs and Kiwi Encounter - Rotorua

As part of a kiwi topic, the students got to get close and personal with a kiwi.   They learnt about the history of the kiwi and a kiwi recovery programme.  They finished the day with a swim at the hot pools.
