뉴질랜드 벌꿀 제품 대표회사인 콤비타(Comvita) 창업주가 자신의 100세 생일을 맞아 박사 장학금을 제정했다는 보도입니다.

The 100-year-old founder of a natural health product company has celebrated his birthday by announcing a scholarship for PhD students.
Claude Stratford founded Comvita in 1974. The company was originally based on natural products using bee products. It now had a turnover of $85 million and exported to 14 countries.
The company said Mr Stratford had celebrated his 100th birthday this week by announcing the Claude Alexander Stratford Research Scholarship which was sponsored by Comvita and established with the University of Auckland.
The scholarship would provide a three-year stipend for a PhD student studying a topic related to natural health products, based at the University of Auckland.
Comvita chief technology officer, Dr Ralf Schlothauer, said the scholarship was created to honour Mr Stratford's lifelong achievement in natural health.
The inaugural recipient of the scholarship was Swapna Gannabathula who will conduct her three-year PhD on immune stimulation from honey.
The company said Mr Stratford owned his first beehive in 1921 when he was 11 and that began a life-long affinity with bee products. He was awarded the Queen's Service Medal in 1999.
He founded Comvita at the age of 64 by making and selling a range of bee products from the basement in his home in Paengaroa, near Tauranga. At 95 he was a finalist in the national Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards.<출처: New Zealand Herald>
