뉴질랜드 - 아이패드 판매 시작, 아이폰4G는 7월30일 출시

미국 애플의 태블릿 PC 아이패드가 지난 7월 23일부터 뉴질랜드 등 9개국 시장에서 추가로 출시됐다. 

애플의 신형 아이폰4G는 뉴질랜드에서 7월30일부터 출시될 예정이다.

지난 4월 미국 시장에서 첫 출시된 아이패드는 현재 미국을 비롯해 호주와 캐나다, 프랑스, 독일, 이탈리아, 일본, 스페인, 스위스, 영국 등 해외 9개국 시장에서 팔리고 있으며 7월 23일부터 뉴질랜드와 오스트리아, 벨기에, 홍콩, 아일랜드, 룩셈부르크, 멕시코, 네덜란드, 싱가포르 등 9개국 시장에서 출시된 상태다.

아이패드의 판매가는 Wi-Fi 3G 16GB 모델이 $999, 32GB는 $1179, 64GB는 $1349로 책정됐다.
Wi-Fi 모델의 경우 16GB가 $799, 32GB는 $979 그리고 64GB는 $1149에 판매될 예정이다.

오클랜드 애플 소매점(MagnumMac)에서는 영업 개시전 약 20명이 문밖에 대기했었고, 판매 3시간만에 200여대 팔려나가.

The much hyped Apple iPad is now officially for sale in New Zealand.

The tablet computer allows you to browse movies, music, games and the internet using just your fingers and will set you back anything from $800 to nearly $1400, depending on which model you want.

 

The iPad's release was handled with military precision. The stockists were not announced until this morning forcing customers to buy the device in-store which led to complaints from those in rural areas.

 

But despite the hype early morning queues didn't exactly stretch round the block.

Around 30 people were there for opening time at Christchurch's Apple retailer MagnumMac, having braved cold, damp conditions outside for a while. And in Auckland around 20 people joined the queue at the Newmarket store waiting for the doors to open at 8am.

Technology expert John Buckley has already had his hands the device Apple is calling 'magical' and 'revolutionary' for weeks.

His verdict is that is a great for consuming content but not for creating it.

"It is designed purely for entertainment. A lot of people are looking at whether they could use it in business," he said.

But that's difficult, when the device has no keyboard, no USB input, no camera and cannot run more than one application at once

"You're not gonna sit down and write a novel on it, but certainly viewing photos, watching online internet, reading books," said MagnumMac Manager Jamie Barton.

With print publishing in decline as circulation numbers dwindle, publishers are embracing the new platform.

North & South Editor Virginia Larson sees the device making quite a difference to magazine publishing in particular as they are now realising how they can make money from the internet.

"The future of advertising I think will be fantastic, I can add video to their advertisements as well, links through to their merchandisers and the likes," she said.

 

At MagnumMac Auckland, 200 iPads flew out the door within three hours, surpassing the number of iPhones sold when it was launched.

 

The tablet has been available on TradeMe since shortly after its US release, with current auctions priced at up to $NZ1940.

More than one million wi-fi iPads were sold in the US, before the wi-fi + 3G version was launched, Apple said.

 

Data Costs (3G 인터넷 데이터 요금)

Yesterday Vodafone released its data charges for the iPad - $20 for 250MB and $50 for 3GB.

 

Telecom has now announced its data pricing - 240MB of data for $18 per month, or 500MB of data for $29.95 a month.
2GB and 4GB data plans would also be available.

 

Telecom would start selling micro-SIM cards for the iPad, smartphones and notebooks next week.

 

TVNZ's iPad App coming

TVNZ will be releasing its iPad application soon. The company's Digital Media team has been working on an Apple-approved iPad application and General Manager Tom Cotter said they are initially focusing on delivering news content.

"A dedicated news, weather and TV schedule iPad app is the priority, but TVNZ is prototyping a separate iPad application for the highly popular TVNZ ondemand service as well," he said.

TVNZ's news iPad application will have up-to-the-minute information from onE News, including instant access to breaking news and news video.
