베이 오브 플렌티 심포니아 연주회 'Rising Stars' (공사중)

 

 베이 오프 플렌티 심포니아(Bay of Plenty Symponia)의 2007년 정기 연주회가 오는 25일 토요일 저녁 7시30분과 26일 일요일 오후 2시, 시내 베이코트에서 2차례 공연된다.

 

 ‘Rising Stars’로 공연되는 이번 무대에서는  특히 솔로이스트로 참가, 협연하는 리챠드 첸(17.바이올린)과 존 폴 뮈어(21.피아노) 등 젊은 뮤지션들의 연주 기량에 관심이 쏠리고 있다.

 

 It would be wonderful for the Korean community to come and hear Richard play and also to hear John-Paul.  I feel sure that it would be beneficial for the parents to bring the children to this concert as it would give the children encouragement to hear such wonderful soloists and would give them the opportunity of seeing and hearing the orchestra at the same time.  They will see some secondary school pupils playing in this concert also.

오클랜드 심포니아에서 바이올린 연주자로 활동하고 있는 리챠드의 부친도 이번 공연에 함께 참가하며  어머니와 동생도 바이올린 연주가로 활동하는 음악 가족이다.

  

The brilliance of two outstanding young musicians, Richard Chen (violin) and John-Paul Muir (piano) will enthrall when they appear at Baycourt as guest soloists with Bay of Plenty Symphonia on Saturday 25th August at 7.30pm and Sunday matinee at 2.00pm.

 

올해 17살인 리차드 첸은 이번 공연에서 멘델스존의 바이올린 협주곡을 연주하게 된다.

한편 2006년 뉴질랜드 공연예술협회 올해의 연주가로 선정되기도 한 피아니스트인  존 폴 뮈어는 

 Saint Saens showy, Concerto for Piano and Orchestra를 연주한다.

 

Richard Chen's performance was exceptional on the Good Morning Show a few weeks ago.  John-Paul will be performing three pieces on the same show, tomorrow Wednesday between 9.00am and noon.  His talents are extra-ordinary and diverse, especially for someone so young, so be sure put on the telly by 9.00am and you will be given an entree of what this young man is capable of. 

 

Other pieces include Rossini's "William Tell Overture," Elgar's "Nimrod"  and "Finlandia" by Sibelius.  Bay of Plenty Symphonia promises that this concert will "knock your socks off."

<리차드 첸 경력>

Richard began learning the piano at the age of five and the cello at nine.  Under his father’s tutelage, he then picked up the violin at the age of ten and has since won numerous music competitions including a Northern Districts Knights Templar Foundation Scholarship at age twelve and the 2005 NZ Sentinel Secondary Performers Competition.

 

Richard has twice performed as a soloist with the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, firstly at the Skycity Starlight Symphony in 2006 and later in Kiwi Kapers at the Aotea Centre.

From the numerous musical prizes he has been awarded, the most notable include the award for the most outstanding performing arts achievement at Rangitoto College – Performing Artist of the Year 2006 – and a North Harbour Club’s AIMES award for emerging talent in music, as well as a recording grant of $5,000 from the Corelli School of Music.

Outside of his achievements in music, Richard was elected a student representative of Rangitoto College and was a member of the Board of Trustees.  Currently, he is studying at the University of Auckland after having been granted an Access Award Scholarship.
