<최근 (2007년 11월)에 개정된 학생 비자와 이민 관련법>

• students who have studied a Diploma course will be eligible for an one year open work permit after completing their course.
• students enrolled in a Diploma or Certificate course for 12 months or more are eligible to work for up to 20 hours a week during term.
• English Language students who have an IELTS score of at least 5.0, and who are enrolled in a course for more than 12 months, are eligible to work for up to 20 hours a week during term.
• Anyone undertaking a course (or combination of courses) lasting for 12 months or more will be able to apply to work full-time over the summer holiday.
• Partners of students studying the 3year - Level 7 Diploma in Computing or other areas of absolute skill shortage will be able to apply for an open work permit valid for the duration of the student’s course of study.

Students aged under 29 who complete the Level 6 or Level 7 Computing Diploma can immediately apply for New Zealand permanent residence without a job offer and without the need for an IELTS score of 6.5 or above.
